In your opinion, what could have been prevented the Maria Hertigh riots in 1950? Give at least two suggestions.

If her parents did not file the case against her foster mother, or her foster mother return Maria to her parents, the Maria Hertogh riots would not have happened. Because of their different races, the Malays may think that that is the reason why her perents would want to file the case, and also may think that they did it on purpose. Since her parents want to take their own daughter back, her foster parents could actually visit her anytime they want, and there may be peace instead of riots that got many people injured. It may give bad impression of each other races. Instead of treating other races like equally, the government only listened to the story Maria's parents, which are of the same races, and turning a deaf ear to the story of her foster perents, which are of different race to them. Many people would not have injured and suffered during the riots.
